Happy New Year!!!
Well, I survived New Year’s Eve on the Las Vegas strip. I’m still in a post New Years Eve daze and words can’t describe the massive amount of people there last night. I know, I know, what was I expecting. There was chaos everywhere. And the cops! There was a cop every ten feet. Well, first off, the Las Vegas Boulevard was shut down to all thru traffic from Sahara Street all the way down the strip to Tropicana street so people can walk pretty much anywhere they wanted on the street and the sidewalk. The center of the street was blocked off to all pedestrians to designate a place for police to patrol the street. An organized plan for the cops to maintain control of the public. Let’s take a look at some pictures…..

Rolling vendors were selling all kinds of 2009 tinkets. From hats to rattlers to cotton candy.

My camera is great, I’m still getting use to it. There was people moving around alot and the lighting was not the greatest outside in the dark. I think I should of used another setting on my new camera but you get the picture of how many people were around me. The street and sidewalks were packed solid of people. The fireworks were great when midnight came around. The fireworks traditionally were to be set off on the rooftops of hotels and casinos along the Las Vegas strip, but that agenda had changed when earlier this year on January 26, 2008 the Monte Carlo caught fire on the rooftop – you can read the news article here. So this year, to avoid any property damage, the fireworks were set off 300 feet lower on the top of parking garage rooftops along the Las Vegas strip. The Fremont Street casino had their own party only allowing 15,000 people in and no more. The Fremont Street Experience displayed fireworks on their overhead canopy. I can get you nice pictures of this over head canopy light show with new camera when I go back up there again. I definitely want you to see how Fremont Street is set up and how they do their hourly light show! So, 2008 is official history and I hope you had a great year. This is the time of year when you can say “Out with the old, in with the new”. Or is that during spring cleaning!
I hope we all have a great 2009 and I wish everyone good fortune and good health! I’ll talk to you soon when I get out of this post New Years Eve daze. I’m going outside with Jake to see all the RVs leave the park. Have a nice day!
