If anyone out there finds the “stop time” button, I would highly appreciate it if you would hit it for me. Have you ever had one of those moments that you would love to stop time in its tracks and just enjoy the moment a little longer. Well, I’m kinda in the moment now, but kinda not, I’ll explain…….Right now, at about midnight in Las Vegas, it’s 55 degrees out. I’ve been walking around the downtown Las Vegas strip with jeans and a sweatshirt on, no jacket, it’s nice out. I visited five casinos tonight and profited very close to $150 dollars. But, it’s not only about that. We are all in good health here, Jake is doing great, the RV is still in mint condition, and I’m listening to the great, exceptional news about the “Miracle on the Hudson”. I mean, can it be a more perfect day. Yes, it can…..if I could only find that “stop time” button.
But, on the flip side, I want to hit that button, but I hesitate because there is so much waiting ahead of us. We are leaving Las Vegas tomorrow morning and I take with me my Fremont Street beads I got for free, a souvenir wind chime I bought at the Hoover Dam visitors store that has a picture of a Kokopelli on it, a plastic drink container that once held 20 ounces of frozen strawberry Margarita that now turned into my coin bank and is half full already, and I also take with me over 500 pictures of Las Vegas. We are moving on to Yuma, Arizona for a month with a day visit to Quartzsite next week. If you do not know what Quartzsite is, trust me, you will know Quartzsite inside and outside by the time I get done posting all the pictures and yapping all about it next week. While we are in Yuma, we are visiting with friends there and we will be visiting Mexico. If you do not know where Yuma is in Arizona, it is in the very southwest corner just a couple miles from Mexico and a stone throw away from California. I’ve been to Yuma before and it is nice. No ones is in a hurry there, they do things different down there, nice and easy. There’s no hustle and bustle like where I’m from. Ha, I remember my first time to Yuma, back in 2005, I went to the post office to do my good deed of sending home some “I’m thinking of ya” postcards and when I walked in the door at the post office there was no one standing around except for a few people at the counter getting some help with their mail. So I stood there and the clerk behind the desk asked me if she could help me. So I say, sure! I start to explain to her that I’m needing stamps and mailing a few items….and she interrupts me and tells me that I need to take a number from the number paper dispenser and wait for my number to be called. Oh. Now, we don’t have this method of service where I’m from in New Hampshire at the post office. Back in New Hampshire, life is definitely different than down here. We stand in line at the post office and if it’s Christmas time and the line is out the door, you are still standing in line the whole time waiting your turn. New Hampshire is busy, people are in a rush, got to be somewhere two hours ago, “I need to place my order and go because I’m late” busy. And heaven help you if you have to order more than two items at a local bakery between the hours of 7am and 8am on a weekday in New Hampshire, especially the city of Manchester. Now, in Arizona, you take your number and you wait your turn, no one going to cut you off, no one is going to rush you, it’s just different. Oh, in Arizona, there are two casinos near us (of course – smile), Cocopah Casino and Paradise Casino (half of Paradise Casino sits in Arizona and the other half of the building sits in California. I remember last time I was at Paradise Casino, they had a deal that if you had a magic Player’s Card you could get their breakfast for $1.75. I wonder if they still have that there?? Can’t wait to find out, Arizona here I come!
