Off to Prison We Go

Feb 12 2009 – Allow a few extra seconds for these pictures to download, I went wild with the camera today…..

Wow, my 80th blog post. I’ve bugged you all 80 times so far!! Ha! Okay, let’s get right down to it. Today, we went to prison. We visited the Yuma Historical Territorial Prison. Wow, I definitely enjoyed this tour. So much to see. Oh, you want to see too? Let’s go for a tour……

This is the guard  tower. We will be going up there in a minute……

Instead of telling you all about it, you can read it yourself! 🙂

Between the admission building and the prison, there was a time line walkway. Too cool. Oh, it was 4 bucks to get in incase you were wondering……

Not sure what this guy is doing. I think this could be the wagon they used to transport the bad guys to prison, maybe not, they do have alot of shows here…….

Oh, we are up in the guard shack now……

This is up in the guard tower for people to read……

These are the doors that prisoners were transported thru to enter the prison.

This is the museum to see some neat old stuff they used in prison. Old telephones, old shackles and old photos.

Okay here’s one of the cells. Holds six mates and one jug of fresh water. If you are out of water, you are out of water. Oh, and see the steel hook on the floor? When one cell mate was acting up, it caused all six mates to be chained to that ring just because one acted bad.

Prison cells back to back. No AC, no heat, no nothing, and rats everywhere (not now, back then). You’re lucky I’m talking you thru this, you’d be confused…..

Oh, this is where you went if you were really really bad…….

I’m nosey enough to go inside the Dark Cell…….

There use to be a cage here that held up to 14 prisoners for being bad and up above is an opening where the guards dropped rats and scorpions down at the prisoners……

The barber shop……I think…….

I heard a train coming in the distance and I crawled up the low end of the wall to take a peek……

What is wrong with this clock…….Look!

Okay, look in the distance….do you see it???

No? Look closer……..

Look! See the Paradise Casino. 🙂 I can see it from the Prison…….

Whoa……I love my camera. My new camera I bought in Las Vegas last month.

Well, we left the Prison which I highly recommend that you put this one down as one of your pit stops if you are in Yuma, Arizona. It’s actually in the same neighborhood at Lutes Casino. You have to go to  Lutes Casino where they are famous for their hamburgers. And then take a short jump to the casino! It’s right off the highway. I really enjoyed the Prison tour. So, on the way home, we stopped at the pick up truck parked on the side of the road selling oranges and lemons and strawberries. I bought a bag of lemons……

Yummy, fresh lemonade……

This jug is pure lemon juice of all the lemons in that bag. We haven’t added the water and sugar yet. I think we might have too much lemon juice in that to make a decent jug of lemonade. We might have to separate it into two jugs.

Well, that’s what we did today. Of course after the Yuma Prison, we stopped at the Paradise Casino but it wasn’t paying out today. Let me see if there is a website for the Yuma Territorial Prison…..Yep! Click here. Tomorrow we are getting up a little bit early. Setting the alarm for 8am to get to the new casino opening at 10am. It’s only 20 minutes away from us and we will be there for the ribbing cutting ceremony!! Yippee! You all have a great night, I’ll bring my camera tomorrow. Good night.
