The New Casino Is Open – Quechan Casino

Feb 13, 2009

Hello and Happy Friday the 13th!! I hope you had a good Friday and now it’s time for the weekend! Yippee! Today the Quechan Casino and Hotel opened at 10am and where were we at 10am this morning…..YEP, you guessed it, at their doors banging on their windows to get in. Me and half of Arizona and a quarter of California. Wow, what a neat casino and hotel. Now, this is no Las Vegas Casino, but it is nice. Conveniently located just off I-8 off Exit 166 in California just over the state line. It took us about 20 minutes to get there. Actually a little longer and I’ll show you why……

We were cruising right along until we got to a rolling road block…hmmmmmm……

We came upon this cop flashing his lights all over the place 4 miles from the Quechan Hotel and Casino.
Do you want to take a guess at what he’s up to? We are all moving at 40 miles per hour……

Ohhhh…..look what we got ahead of us……

Yep, that cop is slowing everyone down so we don’t come up on stopped traffic.
All those cars are waiting to get off Exit 166 to the casino……

And we sit in line stopped on the highway as the cop spins his car around and goes back 5 miles to do traffic control all over again……

Almost there……

Ohhhh, I see the casino……

We are on the bridge going over the highway. Close to the highway, huh? 🙂

There it is……Yippee!

What’s all those people doing there? I thought I only knew about this new hidden paradise…..

Oh boy. There is ALOT of people down there. Got to get in there before all those people do!!!

We found a parking spot pretty fast and there’s plenty of parking for RVs and buses on the side of the casino…..

Well, no one can take cameras into casinos around here, so this is my last picture 😦
I wish I could of taken my camera inside – I would of took over a 1,000 pictures!!!!

Well, the inside of this casino is beautiful. In the back of the casino is a big swimming pool with a lazy “river” pool around the main pool, there is a food court, a buffet restaurant, and a steak house restaurant. So nice inside. So, we attacked the slot machines trying to get some money out of them. Hey, that’s what we are there for. 🙂 I saw a guy win (Win? Already?) $1,350 dollars at a dollar slot machine. So I said to myself, “HEY, what about me.”

So I sat down at a $1 slot machine next to his and put 40 bucks in it. I hit the “Play Max” button and bet $5 dollars at a time. Hey, got to bet big to win big, right? So, I hit the button, nothing. Hit the button again, nothing. Hit the “Play Max” button again and a yellow 7 comes up and stops on the first reel (the reels have different colored 7s) and the middle reels stops at “Triple Dollar”, whoa, that could be a good thing, and the third reel stops on “Triple Dollar”.

WOW, I don’t know how much I won at that point but I know I won something. So now the “Win” counter starts counting upward….100 credits (1 credit = 1 dollar)….past 300 credits…..I’m looking around wondering where the candid camera is because I never win THAT much from a slot machine…..it reaches and passes 500 credits…..Now I’m wide-eyed in a semi trance watching the credits continue to increase in value and I’m hoping it NEVER stops!! Keep counting baby!!!

It stops on 811. So what did I do next?? Yeah, I hit that CASH OUT button!! Woo Hoo!! Well, okay, it’s not $1,350 dollars but boy, am I happy!!!!! I think tomorrow I’ll play the 811 number in the pick three Arizona lottery. It’s a sign. I know it’s a sign!!!! So, anyways, I take my coupon that now says $811 dollars to the cashier. It’s one of those ticket in/ticket out slot machines, they don’t drop money into the tin bin under the slot machine anymore. Those days are gone.

I get my money and continue my quest to find another jackpot. I won at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine and another slot machine that I’ve never played before (yeah, can you believe it) and I walked out with $1,018. So we are going to go back to this casino during the week next week when, hopefully, it will be less busy. It was really busy today. Buses of senior citizens poured into the casino, it was super packed.

So we left there and went to the Cocopah Casino and enjoyed the buffet. And you remember the rule right? Whoever wins over $250 dollars has to buy dinner or lunch in this matter. Then we played a little bit at the Cocopah Casino and I walked out $20 dollars ahead there and then we came back to the RV. So all in all, it wasn’t too bad of a day. Not sure what we are doing tomorrow. I know the rodeo is in town so we might stop by the Yuma fairgrounds to enjoy the rodeo. I’ll bring my camera if we go. Have a great night.
